A few days ago, I received my custom portrait for my Thanos 1/4 scale statue by XM Studios. It was privately commissioned in an edition size of about 40-50 pieces.

It is sculpted by Thiago Provin who is an amazing Brazilian sculptor. He also sculpted the Jim Lee portrait for my Batman Premium Format. Thiago did an incredible job of capturing the essence of Thanos with his brutal and intimidating look. There are lots of great details to the sculpt, and just the sheer expression of this piece is simply fantastic.

The paint application on this one was done by James Tce, who is a renowned painter within the statue collecting community, and I’m really excited and proud to own a piece painted by him. The paint scheme is slightly different when compared to the original heads. The skin tone is a more saturated lavender, whereas the original heads have a more darkened skin tone. The gold and blue areas are also slightly different, with a more grainy texture, and a more metallic finish. However, the portrait, in my opinion, fits perfectly well to the body. The slight variations to the color and texture go unnoticed when displayed.

This portrait has certainly become my favorite option for this statue; a statue that I really enjoy owning in the first place. So it feels really good having made Thanos just a bit more awesome with this custom head.

Check out some more of my photos below, and let me know what you think of it. I can’t wait to experience Thanos when he really enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe very soon. He’s probably my favorite Marvel villain!

Oh, and as I was writing this post, I completely forgot to mention that I already made a video review of this piece. So I’ll add that as well.
